Facilities Manager

As facilities manager, you’ll run your building and everything that happens within it. From engineering, catering and security to reception and cleaning, you’ll make sure it’s all under control. You’ll also oversee an annual budget and manage an in-house team, alongside a range of subcontractors.

One day you might organise a fine dining event for CEOs and help fix an air conditioning system, another you might plan a fire evacuation and carry out preventative maintenance work. It all depends on the day.

The two constants will be ensuring we adhere strictly to all Health & Safety regulations, and checking in regularly with clients to keep them satisfied.

What makes a great facilities manager?

The very best facilities managers are organised, persuasive and proactive — not to mention highly ambitious. They have a real attention to detail and a knack for remaining calm when things get hectic. They also know when it comes to customers, a smile can go a long way.

To join, you should have a background in facilities management and experience of managing others. You’ll also need to be comfortable working with suppliers and landlords, understand purchasing and invoicing processes, know how to control costs and, ideally, have a facilities management qualification.
