Record year for Sodexo’s STOP Hunger Campaign

Sodexo employees from the UK and Ireland have delivered an especially successful fundraising year for STOP Hunger, the Sodexo Foundation’s global initiative active in over 40 countries worldwide, raising an outstanding £427,000 for charities active across the UK and Ireland.

Thanks to the energy, enthusiasm and team spirit of people across the Sodexo business, annual income exceeded £400,000 for the first time ever. The funds were raised by Sodexo teams organising and taking part in events such as a sponsored bike ride from London to Paris, the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge, numerous cake sales, bathing in out-of-date baked beans and a space hopper race across London Bridge, to name just a few.

The Sodexo Foundation supports charities that tackle hunger, support good nutrition and life skills, such as cooking in local communities, through its ‘STOP Hunger’ campaign. This year, the Sodexo Foundation has made donations to a number of charities including FareShare, Barnardo’s Ireland, the Scout Association, the Outward Bound Trust, The Prince’s Trust, SSAFA Forces Help and Breast Cancer Haven. The STOP Hunger 2012 film gives an insight into how STOP Hunger has an impact from growing to eating. It was launched at the annual Sodexo Foundation Dinner held at London’s Royal Garden Hotel in September and can be found on YouTube.

The Sodexo Foundation, the company’s in-house charity, has raised over £1.8m since 2005 when it was launched in the UK & Ireland to tackle poor nutrition in local communities and provide a central focus for Sodexo’s community related charitable activities.
