February 20, 2012
Sodexo, a leading provider of on-site service solutions, has won a five-year contract to deliver horticultural services to South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council.
The contract includes the maintenance of some 180 hectares of parks and open spaces, children’s play areas, sports pitches and even a nine-hole pitch and putt course. While the contract has been agreed for a five-year term, there is the option for South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council to extend the agreement for a further three years.
Head of corporate strategy at South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, Clare Kingston adds: “Sodexo offered us the best value for money and we believe that Sodexo will deliver what is important to us. The size of the Sodexo operation gave us confidence that they would be able to deliver the service effectively.”
As part of the agreement, Sodexo will also look after the Council’s artificial pitches in the region, keep park pathways clear of snow and ice and, where necessary, dig graves for the council owned churchyards that fall within the two districts.
Regional director for Sodexo Horticultural Services, Matthew Fowler says: “This is a fantastic win for us and further strengthens our partnership approach. We are focused on retaining a great team and truly engaging with the community, as well as working alongside the client to develop innovations that deliver real value.”
