The Patient Experience Survey 2002 is the
first research of its kind to ask patients their views about the non-medical care that
they receive in English Acute Trust Hospitals. A piece of research independently devised
and conducted by Business Planning and Research International is sponsored and published
jointly by Sodexho and The Patients Association in the UK.Key highlights include :
- attitudes towards services received (food services, cleaning, shops etc)
- impact of environment of patient's comfort (noise, lighting etc)
- reporting attitudes of hospital staff as seen through patient's eyes
- detailed findings for seven UK regions
- patient suggestions for improved services for themselves and their visitors
- the degree to which a patients dignity is preserved
- how effectively hospitals communicate with their patients
