But they didn't need snowshoes to emulate the epic journey of the renowned Irish Antarctic hero Tom Crean. Instead, ten pairs of stout hiking boots enabled the group to complete a 28km trek around the Dingle Peninsula in one day with the finishing line at Tom's world famous pub, The South Pole Inn, in Annascaul, Co. Kerry.
Said Jennifer Quinn, Sodexho's support services operations manager, who organised the event, "The trek raised €2,500 for the campaign and our overall target for the year is €15,000. The funds raised from the South Pole trek brings the total to date to over €12,000, so we're nearly there!"
The STOP Hunger campaign was developed by Sodexho to provide a central focus for the company's charitable and community interests. It supports charities in the UK and Ireland that combat poor nutrition in local communities.
