Corporate citizenship, which to us means integrating economic, social and environmental factors into our everyday business practice, is fundamental to the way Sodexo operates. By addressing the issues that affect our stakeholders, and therefore our success, our approach to corporate citizenship aims to ensure a better quality of life for present and future generations through sustainable business practice.
We are deploying a sustainability strategy to 2020, the Better Tomorrow Plan, which was launched in 2009 and focuses on the sustainability issues that are material to our business.
The Sodexo UK & Ireland corporate citizenship statement informs all our stakeholders what we understand by corporate citizenship and how it shapes the way we operate. It includes our mission, our values, our ethical principles and an introduction to the policies, codes and positioning statements that shape our commitment to corporate citizenship in specific aspects of our business. It was updated in 2010 following the launch of the Better Tomorrow Plan.
"Encouragingly, companies are understanding the ability to create value within
their organisations by living their values... Where I am encouraged is that
companies like Sodexo are saying that this is an important way for us to
engage with our staff, better serve our customers and the communities in
which we live and work and make a positive difference
in the world at the same time."
Stephen Howard, chief executive, Business in the Community (BITC)
