We serve about a million people a day across the UK and Ireland, including schools, hospitals and seniors. Food safety is mission-critical to our business. Equally, as an employer of over 43,000 people, it is imperative that we safeguard each and everyone of our employees, customers and clients against any risk.
To deliver our commitments, Sodexo has developed a comprehensive Safety Management System that manages all areas of food safety and health and safety relevant to our business activities.
Through clear policy endorsed by our CEO and board of directors, the Safety Management System sets out the standards that are expected. It provides business managers with clear instructions and accessible process documents to achieve standards. The system is available through our intranet system.
Safegard, our internal but arm's length safety department, is there to provide expert help and advice to all our business managers in whatever part of the business they operate. Safegard's regionally based safety executives provide local support and monitor compliance with the standards laid out in our Safety Management System through regular audits. Safegard reports directly to our CEO and board of directors ensuring independence and transparency in safety governance.
