Water and effluents
We are developing common resources to assess the water footprint of selected offices and shape water conservation and management programmes at sites where we are responsible for water procurement.
In our environmental strategy and improvement programme 2010-2013, we have set ourselves the following key objective:
More than 80% of our controlled sites reducing water consumption year on year by August 2012
We have worked to source and validate accurate information relating to the water footprint of individual operational sites that can monitor water consumption and effluent discharges. With technical advice and assistance from WWF, one of the world's leading conservation groups, we are looking to incorporate this data into a water stewardship plan. This will address our direct operational water use at sites and focus our water reduction efforts on water stressed areas.
Additionally, we are seek to identify the physical, regulatory, financial, strategic and other risks and opportunities that could impact on our water use and develop policies and procedures to mitigate risk and leverage opportunities through improved stakeholder awareness.
Water efficient devices
We offer a wide range of products and services to enhance washrooms, support legislative compliance and help meet our clients' sustainability targets. The range of products provided includes water saving devices that help reduce water consumption and bills, are friendlier to the environment, and keep washrooms hygienic, smelling fresh and clean.
Flush-wiser WC® Flush Control is a uniquely adaptable water saving device for WCs that can save up to three litres of water per flush without compromising hygiene. Flow-saver® Urinal Water Management System can save up to 96% of water used in urinal flushing by using intelligent infrared technology.
Eco-shield® is a urinal sleeve that works using the latest in bioblock technology in conjunction with Flow-saver® Urinal Water Management System to keep urinals smelling fresh and free from blockages.
Concentrated chemicals
The super-concentrated cleaning chemicals we use eliminate unnecessary packaging by up to 80% and avoid the transportation of water, while innovations like no-rinse formulas and solid concentrates directly reduce water consumption. Products that are effective at low temperatures also reduce energy consumption.
Our suppliers' enzyme-based technology and commitment to research and development allow us to continue investing in innovative solutions that provide superior performance while minimising environmental impact on our environment with non hazardous classifications.
“Wash-N-walk” from Ecolab is an enzyme based product that has been formulated to clean with cold water rather than hot and requires no rinsing. This saves time and water and increasing efficiency.
