In a deal worth over £6million in total turnover, Sodexo will begin providing services to Milton Keynes' day nurseries on 7th April and primary schools on 21st April.
Sodexo will employ 148 staff and will serve in excess of one million meals to Milton Keynes school children every year.
The freshly prepared traditional service will be provided through seven production kitchens in Milton Keynes, using Sodexo's 'Club Joules' menu option. Items on offer will include: breaded salmon, pasta Neapolitana, spaghetti bolognaise and traditional favourites such as roast chicken with sage and onion stuffing.
As part of its service, Sodexo will offer taster sessions throughout the year, ensuring the continuous improvement of the service through regular feedback from parents, teachers, and pupils.
Sodexo has more than 50 years' experience in the education market and already has a healthy portfolio of clients in this sector. Sodexo met both the government 2007 food standards and the 2008 nutrient-based standards two years ahead of the deadlines.
Jeremy Alderton, Sodexo's director of business development said: “We are delighted to be working with Milton Keynes council to improve the quality of meals for the school children in the area. We aim to provide healthy and nutritious choices that the children enjoy.”
