In a bid to reduce the negative impact that waste has on the environment and to increase its overall green contribution to the community it works in, Sodexo joined forces with Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, and waste contractors GPT and GW Butler, and held a Waste Awareness Day at Queen's Hospital on Tuesday 15 March.
The aim was to raise waste awareness and the importance of sustainability whilst promoting the excellent work They were amongst a small group from Sodexo Justice Services who attended an award ceremony at Buckingham Palace last week to receive their commendations from HRH The Princess Royal.
The Butler Trust Awards were launched in 1985 and recognise outstanding dedication, skill and creativity by people working in prisons, probation or youth justice settings across the UK. They are widely acknowledged as the most prestigious of their kind.
Philip Andrew, managing director, Sodexo Justice Services, said: “I am very proud that Sodexo Justice Services staff have received this commendation and delighted that Dan and Danny's hard work and innovation has been recognised. Our staff continually work very hard across our operations to rehabilitate offenders and improve public safety, driven by our mission to change lives for the better.”
