We believe a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, which is why we prioritise healthy eating in the schools and universities we operate.
We meet and exceed Government guidelines on nutrition and promote a healthy lifestyle in partnership with our clients, both through the curriculum and the foodservices we provide.
We actively promote healthy cooking practices and are committed to using ethically sourced and locally produced ingredients wherever possible.
While our fundamentals are standard across the education industry, we tailor our approach to food by sector:
Providing food services at primary schools is a challenge. As well as meeting food standards regulations and Government guidelines on nutrition, we have to provide food that children enjoy.
We use lively food-based characters to market the importance of a nutritionally balanced diet and an active lifestyle and our menus reflect that to include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
We treat the 11 to 16-year-old pupils at secondary schools as customers. They have opinions, desires and choice, which means we are competing with the high street.
We use fresh and healthy ingredients to give customers flexibility, whether they want to grab a quick wrap or panini, help themselves to the salad bar or sit down and enjoy a hot meal.
We tailor our menus to schools' specific eating trends and extend our service to breakfast clubs, mid-morning breaks and food on the go, making life easier for students and giving parents peace of mind.
We provide food services for pupils ranging from age three to 18 in independent schools, so our ability to tailor menus is paramount.
Many of our customers have strong views on the freshness of food, seasonality and greater choice. We aim to meet those demands, while educating pupils about healthy eating, makes them feel involved and giving them the tools to make informed and positive lifestyle decisions.
The students and staff at colleges and universities want healthy and freshly prepared meals using ethically sourced ingredients at a competitive price.
In the further and higher education markets we are in direct competition with the high street, which is why value for money, quality and convenience are equally high on our agenda.
With many students and staff living on campus, we are focused on giving our customers convenience and simplifying life by supporting dining, relaxation and socialising in one area.
To complement this we have also produced a Student Survival Guide, which is full of great recipes, information about healthy eating, as well as lifestyle hints and tips to help students with everything from energy saving to time management.
