Through our close relationships with Government departments and agencies, we are leading the way with dietetics and nutrition management, which means we can provide well-balanced meals to aid patients' recovery to good health.
We understand the significant changes that have taken place in people's approach and understanding of food, and particularly wellness, and we have built flexibility into our food services to help our clients deliver a service that meets those needs.
As well as feeding patients and residents, we provide a range of food services to staff and visitors, operating cafes, restaurants and retail outlets in many healthcare environments.
Sodexo has established a long-standing relationship providing foodservices to NHS hospitals. Our insight into the changing face of healthcare provision means we can support clients while they focus on patient health.
We understand the importance of patient choice within the NHS and we reflect this in our foodservices, taking into account patients' cultures, allergies and food preferences to ensure they eat enjoyable and well-balanced meals during their stay in hospital.
Following the launch of the Government's Better Hospital Food Programme in 2001, we work with our clients and their nutrition and dietetic teams to continually develop a varied and healthy menu choice for patients.
As well as providing foodservices to patients, we operate cafes and restaurants to ensure hospital staff are well catered for and visitors can relax when coming to see their loved ones.
Sodexo is the market leader in providing foodservices in the private hospital sector where patients demand a high quality of service.
Patients choose to have their treatment in the private sector for a number of reasons and our clear understanding of them as consumers is crucial to the quality of service we deliver.
Our dedicated food development team continually review the food services we provide to reflect consumer trends. Working alongside our nutrition and dietetic teams, they design menus that satisfy likes and dislikes while providing nutritionally balanced great food.
We provide foodservices to nursing and residential care homes in the seniors market, giving our clients the time to manage patients' wellbeing.
We understand the challenges that care providers face every day in the seniors market. To support staff in this difficult role, we provide foodservices for a wide range of needs.
The importance of food in this environment cannot be underestimated and ensuring that residents can choose from a range of appetising and nutritious dishes is a part of their wellbeing.
We provide local authorities with the support they need to help older and vulnerable residents remain comfortable in their own homes.
Using our custom-built, environmentally friendly Smart cars, we are able to deliver hot meals directly to residents, giving them a wide choice of dishes and multiple choice menus that incorporate cultural and dietary requirements.
Our support goes beyond simply providing a hot meal. Our drivers are often the only people residents will see during the day, so a friendly and helpful nature is critical to providing a quality service.
As part of that service, we also provide a 'safe and well' check, where over 350 delivery drivers make it part of their duty to check on the wellbeing of customers.
Our prepared foods business, Tillery Valley, produces chilled and frozen meals that our clients can regenerate to ensure their customers have healthy, nutritionally balanced meals produced to a consistently high standard.
Innovative cooking methods, such as using steam under pressure to gently heat meals, ensure that neither nutritional content nor flavour is lost in the cooking process. In fact, everything Tillery Valley prepares is rigorously tested to ensure it meets and exceeds Government standards on quality, as well as safety.
Our Tillery Valley business is constantly striving for improved quality. It also strives to minimise the impact it has on the environment. It uses predominantly local and UK-based suppliers to reduce food miles; limits water usage without compromising hygiene and safety; recycles some 250 tonnes of cardboard every year; has diverted food waste disposal from landfill to a local food composting site; and has recently been awarded the coveted Carbon Trust standard.
