Our work globally

In Chile, we are responsible for the design, construction and financing of three prisons and the day-to-day operation of a further two. We provide maintenance of buildings and equipment, laundry, and healthcare services.  Other rehabilitative services are delivered through education and vocational training, as well as recreational, cultural and sporting activities. The 20-year contracts are for maximum and medium security prisons with a total capacity of 5,400 beds.

In France, we provide integrated facilities management in 27 prisons, as well as seven secure centres for minors. This includes catering, cleaning, building and equipment maintenance, transport, vocational training and other rehabilitative services including employment upon release.

Sodexo has achieved ISO 9001 certification at all sites for total quality management for all services provided.

In South Africa, we have submitted bids for four 3,000-bed prisons. Our consortium has a 48% equity stake, which enhances our capability to deliver high-quality, culturally specific services for offenders and ensures that people from disadvantaged groups and communities benefit directly from the construction and management of the prisons.
