Our mission is to change lives for the better.

• countries where our staff are not required to carry firearms; and

We work with our partners in justice services to share and promote good practice; ensure our services meet the diverse needs of prisoners and visitors, as well as respecting their human rights; employ a workforce that reflects the different communities we service and encourage an inclusive working environment.

Our Single Equality and Inclusion Strategy describes how our justice services business delivers on these commitments.

In line with our legal duty, we conduct equality impact assessments of all our justice services policies and programmes across all protected characteristics. 

These allow us to:

• Determine how our policies and practices affect prisoners, staff, visitors and suppliers

• Make decisions about current and future services, as well as understanding the impacts on different groups

• Develop ways of monitoring and reviewing the effects of new or changing policies
