Sodexo has won a 10-year £6 million per annum contract with Coventry University to supply catering and hospitality services.

From September, Sodexo will take over all the catering, food retail and hospitality services on the university’s campuses in Coventry, London and Scarborough, delivering services to almost 30,000 students and 5,000 university employees.

Sodexo will invest in new facilities and digital services at the university’s 17 catering outlets. New food offers and brands will be introduced including a new coffee bar and new vegan street food offer, ‘Planted’, as well as a permanent food truck.

The Sodexo team will work closely with local food suppliers and social enterprises, using local produce where possible.

Sodexo will also launch an app so that food and drinks can be pre-ordered and collected, making it more convenient to get refreshments on campus.

Michael Ricketts, Assistant Director of Catering and Retail at Coventry University,  said; “We are always looking to improve the experience for our students and staff so we are delighted to appoint Sodexo as our catering and hospitality providers. Good food plays an important role in our health and wellbeing as well as in the social fabric of our university. We were very pleased to discover that Sodexo shared our focus around sustainability, social values and community engagement.  We are looking forward to welcoming them onto our campuses.

Paul Anstey, CEO of Schools & Universities, UK & Ire, Benelux & Nordics, said; “Our food offer is designed to meet students’ and employees’ varying needs, with an emphasis on healthy, fresh and affordable food.

“In line with the University’s ethos of sustainability, we will work with them to measure and reduce both food and packaging waste.  We are delighted to have been appointed by Coventry University and look forward to working with them.”
