A team of three chefs won the Sodexo culinary team challenge for their dessert course served to 120 diners in Ascot’s Parade Ring restaurant.

Andy Voice from Independents by Sodexo, Gary Periti from Sodexo Education and Luke Townley from Sodexo Corporate Services created a treacle tart with ice cream and custard as part of the competition which saw teams of chefs prepare a five-course meal.

Employees from across Sodexo made up two front-of-house teams who served Sodexo clients and partners the dinner.

The winning chef and front-of-house teams were awarded their trophy by Sodexo ambassador Matt Dawson and Sodexo UK & Ireland chair Sean Haley.

The annual Sodexo culinary team challenge is part of a new event Sodexo Live. Taking place on Wednesday 26 September, Sodexo Live will feature a thought leadership seminar programme which will see industry experts discussing a range of issues in foodservice and facilities management.

Sodexo Live will also include a retail village as well as the annual live and static salon culinaire, celebrity chef demonstrations and supplier exhibitions.

Sean Haley, Sodexo UK & Ireland chair, said: “What we’ve seen tonight is Sodexo prepare and serve outstanding food in restaurant conditions. Congratulations to Andy, Gary and Luke on winning the challenge, but also well done to everyone who competed for demonstrating the food heritage and excellence of Sodexo.”
