Sodexo UK and Ireland has been shortlisted as one of five companies in the ‘Business of the Year’ category of the First Women Awards.

Created by Real Business magazine in 2005, the First Women Awards celebrate the UK’s best business women and bring together outstanding women from all sectors.

Nominated by applicants in each of the other categories, Sodexo is one of five companies (A.T. Kearney, Dell, Sky and Unilever) to be in the running for the Business of the Year Award. The final vote has been put to readers of Real Business and the winner will be announced at the First Women Awards ceremony on 22 June.

Meg Horsburgh, Sodexo UK and Ireland’s head of diversity and inclusion said; “We are really excited to be nominated alongside such great businesses in this category. Achieving gender balance has been a strategic priority for Sodexo for many years now and we have been focused on working with stakeholders and clients to promote this agenda more widely. It is great that this work is being recognised in the marketplace.”

Sodexo has featured in the Times 50 Top Employers for Women for the last three years. Globally, Sodexo has increased representation of women on the executive committee from 25 per cent in 2009 to 43 per cent in 2015 and boosted the representation of women among senior leaders from 17 per cent to 31 per cent.
