Sodexo, a leading provider of on site service solutions, has helped its client Royal Tunbridge Wells Council receive the title of Best in Kent and a hat-trick of gold medals at the annual South and South East in Bloom competition.

The gold winners were, Royal Tunbridge Wells for the large town category; Oakley School in Pembury Road, Tunbridge Wells in the schools category and Dunorlan Park for the large parks category. The town also received the accolade of Best in Kent across all categories.

Sodexo’s team of 26 operatives from its Horticultural Services business were involved from the outset when planning began a year before judging took place. Working closely with the Bloom committee the team not only delivered what it was contractually obliged to do but went the extra mile, helping the local community, residents and business alike, as well as re-landscaping the town centre roundabout.

Speaking of the win, Mel Henley, who oversees the contracts for Tunbridge Wells Borough Council said: “I am delighted with this outstanding set of results achieved in just our second year of the campaign here. Sodexo and all of their staff should be congratulated by the way in which they have raised the standards and worked in partnership with us and the community groups involved. It is a team effort and Sodexo are an essential part of our Bloom Team, we could not have achieved these results without them.”

Sodexo’s contract manager, Andy Hodgson, also commented: “We are delighted at the results, it has been a true partnership with the council and we intend to replicate this success in future years.“

The competition judges summarised the result with ‘the high standard of horticulture and eye-catching displays, together with the environmental and recreational facilities make Tunbridge Wells and inviting place to visit’.
