Sodexo’s craft and food development director, David Mulcahy, has received the prestigious Chris Beaumont Special Award at this year’s Springboard Awards For Excellence.

For over 20 years, Springboard has been helping young, unemployed and disadvantaged people to get into careers in hospitality, leisure and tourism and the awards – now in their tenth year – help to highlight the outstanding people and organisations who facilitate this to happen. These awards celebrate the work of those who devote time and endless energy to elevate the profile of the industry as an employer, attract and retain talent, and demonstrate best employment practices.

The highly acclaimed Chris Beaumont Award recognises the individual, organisation or partnership demonstrating the most outstanding overall contribution towards achieving Springboard’s aims over the last 12 months and rewards consistent commitment, contribution and achievement to Springboard beyond the call of duty.

On receiving the award, David said: "I was very surprised to receive the award but I am thrilled with the recognition. I have worked with Springboard for the past 12 years and am passionate about the FutureChef initiative which has seen many thousands of young people take part over the years, with many now working as chefs within the industry. I am delighted with my award and thank all of those who made this possible.“

Chief Executive of The Springboard Charity, Anne Piece said: ‘We are delighted to bestow the accolade of Springboard’s Chris Beaumont Special Award to David, in recognition of his support of Springboard – it is his genuine commitment and dedication that sets him apart, in working and helping to grow the flagship FutureChef programme, encouraging members of his team to become Ambassadors and to raise the standard of work experience.”
