Sodexo employees across the globe joined forces last month for their annual STOP Hunger ‘Servathon 2013’. Held each April since 1997, the Servathon is now a global programme that involves employees in many of Sodexo’s 80 host countries in hunger relief efforts such a donating food, serving meals and fundraising.

Sodexo’s North Sea operations were again keen to play their part. This year, they dedicated some time and technical expertise to support Somebody Cares - the biggest charity providing for the poor, the marginalised and the vulnerable people of Aberdeen.

Volunteers from Sodexo repaired and painted the exterior of the charity’s city centre warehouse. Brian Taylor from Somebody Cares thanked Sodexo for their donation, explaining that it ‘will be a huge help as we respond to Aberdonians with urgent and often desperate needs – making a real and lasting difference in their lives.’

Michel Landel, Sodexo CEO and President of Sodexo STOP Hunger Association, commented: ‘While we are going through difficult economic times, local populations of some countries where Sodexo operates are suffering in precarious circumstances, and the necessity of setting up a hunger relief programme is of greater importance than ever. We are proud of the commitment of our employees, who touch the daily lives of over 50 million people worldwide. They give life to the spirit of service to improve the Quality of daily Life for the people we serve in the communities where we live and work.’
