Sodexo was highly commended in the Employer of the Year category at the 2015 Lloyd’s Bank National Business Awards.

The 1,200 business leaders attended the gala dinner with a video address from the Prime Minister and keynote speech from former astronaut and second man to walk on the moon, Buzz Aldrin.

An all-encompassing range of industries were represented in the shortlists for this year’s awards, with companies from recruitment and children’s clothing, to pet food and online marketing being selected for the chance to win a coveted Lloyds Bank National Business Award. The scale of the finalists was just as varied, with companies turning over less than a million pounds to over £25 million, employing 20 people or over 70,000 people.

Sodexo was one of just five finalists in the 18 categories to be highly commended. The judges felt it was important to highlight the excellent achievements of Sodexo in managing to unite a company with over 1,850 sites and over 34,000 employees – “we were particularly impressed with their direction and support for managers, and the smart targets the company has set for itself to ensure employees feel a part of the team regardless of where they work day to day”.

The ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 10 November.

Andy Rogers, HR director, Sodexo UK and Ireland said, “We are delighted to have received this commendation. People are at the heart of our business and our success. Our mission is to improve quality of life for our clients, customers and employees, so being recognised in this category is both an honour and testament to our commitment to be an employer of choice.”
