Sodexo won event caterer of the year for their partnership with Henley Royal Regatta at the inaugural Sports and Leisure Catering Awards last night (13 September).

The Sodexo Sports & Leisure team collected the award in front of 200 industry peers at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on Piccadilly, London.

Sodexo has been the official hospitality provider for Fawley Meadows and Temple Island at the iconic British summer event since 2013. The full-day experience includes a five-course lunch and afternoon tea along the picturesque bank of Fawley Meadows with live entertainment, topped off by a riverboat cruise down the Thames.

The jewel in the crown is the private oasis of Temple Island where each day only 40 guests enjoy a 360-degree dining and classical music experience as rowers pass along either side.

Sodexo was also shortlisted at the SLC Awards in the innovation category for the TimeTarget staffing management system at Ascot Racecourse and in the stadia & arena of the year category for The American Express Community Stadium, home of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.

The inaugural Sports and Leisure Catering Awards ceremony was hosted by television presenter Mark Durden-Smith and SLC magazine editor Joe Bill.

Chris Bray, CEO Sports & Leisure, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “Our events team deliver an incredible experience for customers at some of Britain’s most iconic events like Henley Royal Regatta, The Open and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, so it’s fantastic for these efforts to be recognised at the inaugural Sports and Leisure Catering Awards.

“The team have worked hard to deliver world-class hospitality at Fawley Meadows and Temple Island since we started working with Henley Royal Regatta three years ago and we look forward to further improving that experience next year.”
