Sodexo has retained the catering contract at Birbeck College

The five-year deal will see Sodexo continue to provide catering at the college’s main building in Malet Street as well as its satellite buildings in Gordon Square, Russell Square and the Clore Management Centre in Torrington Square.

Sodexo has worked with Birkbeck for over 16 years and recently made a significant investment to transform the restaurants and cafes across the college estate, increasing both the capacity and speed of service for students and staff.

The new contract will also see Sodexo introduce a range of fresh food offers that have been developed based on an intensive programme of customer insight and a more casual style of dining. A programme has been developed that will see the College host SMEs and start-up companies as part of a wider community engagement programme.

Elizabeth Whitehead, Director of Facilities and Estates Services at Birkbeck College, said: We look forward to continuing to work with Sodexo over the term of the new contract. Initial feedback from staff and students using the refurbished facilities and improved food offer is very positive.  We are excited about the proposal from Sodexo to partner with SME’s in our small catering outlets.”

Simon Knight, account Director at Sodexo, said: “We are delighted that Birkbeck have retained Sodexo as their catering partner. We have worked closely with Elizabeth to ensure that our refurbished cafes and restaurants provide our customers with a greater social space, an improved dining experience and a range of new offers which we have developed based on extensive customer insight and feedback.”
