Sodexo has won a five-year contract with City University London.

The £2m-a-year deal will see Sodexo provide catering and hospitality services at the university’s Northampton Square site, serving a population of more than 14,000 students and staff.

Sodexo will operate eight catering outlets including the main restaurant as well as on trend casual dining options such as street food.

Successfully introduced in other Sodexo higher education contracts, a student experience manager will use social media to drive engagement with customers and foster an understanding of what students want.

Paul Anstey, Sodexo managing director for commercial education, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with City University London. Our flexible approach, focus on fresh food, graduate employability and understanding of students – particularly through our University Lifestyle Survey – demonstrated that we can add true value to City University London’s diverse student population.”

Caroline Jenkins, deputy director, property and facilities, City University London, said: “We’re very excited about our new partnership with Sodexo, and, in particular, introducing sustainable, locally sourced, fresh food to our students, staff and visitors. I’m sure our new and returning students will be bowled over when they arrive in the autumn to our reinvigorated catering outlets.”
