Sodexo Education has won a contract worth £4m annually to provide integrated facilities management to six schools in Exeter.

The five-year contract which begins in September, is part of Modern Schools Exeter private finance initiative (PFI) which is responsible for the education of 3,600 pupils across six schools in the city.

The contract will see Sodexo provide all facilities management services, covering everything from catering, cleaning and property maintenance through to security, helpdesk and energy management.

The win represents a significant addition to Sodexo’s integrated facilities management portfolio in the education market and reflects Sodexo Education’s investment into gaining market insight and designing services that are bespoke to the needs of clients in the schools sector.

Matt Garner, managing director of Sodexo’s government schools division, said: “Sodexo Education is absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the IFM contract with Modern Schools Exeter. This contract represents Sodexo’s significant investment into gaining market insight and designing services that are bespoke to the needs of clients in the schools sector. We look forward to our services having a positive impact on the daily quality of life of the students and teachers in each of the six schools.”

James McInnes, Devon County Council’s Cabinet member for schools, said: “Sodexo already has a very good track record of delivering a range of services to schools throughout the country and in Devon. I know they are keen to work closely with our PFI schools in Exeter. I look forward to them helping to create an even better environment for learning for the thousands of students and staff in these schools.”
