Rob Woodward, security manager for Sodexo’s corporate services business was awarded the title of Outstanding Contract Security Manager of the Year at last night’s Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.

The Outstanding Security Performance Awards recognise and reward companies and individuals across the security sector providing an opportunity for outstanding performers, whether individuals or companies to be recognised and their success to be celebrated.

Rob is Sodexo’s security manager for a global FMCG client organisation.  He joined Sodexo in 2013 and since then has made a big impression on his colleagues within Sodexo and with the client organisation.

Working across multiple sites which include manufacturing and R&D facilities Rob has implemented new security solutions including safe evacuation and mustering, designed new vehicle access controls and helped develop a remote monitoring system for one site which links into and is controlled by Sodexo’s control room in Salford which provides a single point of contact for security employees and support for lone workers, alarm monitoring and innovative CCTV monitoring.

Karen Hopkins, Cluster Manager, Sodexo Corporate Services, UK and Ireland said: “We are thrilled that Rob has been recognised at these prestigious awards.  Since he joined Sodexo he has demonstrated professionalism and expertise in all aspects of the security service we provide for our client.  He has led the team admirably and continues to engage and motivate them in delivering excellence in the services we deliver. This is well deserved recognition for Rob, we are proud of his achievement and his continued commitment.”

Jane Farrell, Head of Security, UK & Ireland: “Rob has been a tremendous support to our security professional family providing excellent ideas and support to grow our business. He maintains professional standards and leads his team to deliver an exceptional security service focussing on the quality of life and safety of our clients. It’s a pleasure to have a security professional within the team who can work collaboratively with people at all levels”

Sodexo was also shortlisted in the Outstanding Contract Security Company and Outstanding Security Partnership with its client University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Over 450 security professionals gathered to celebrate the very best from across the sector at the annual dinner which was hosted by Susannah Fish OBE QPM – former Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police; national gun crime lead and national lead for Business Crime, Private Security Industry Liaison, and Information Sharing.

OSPAs founder Professor Martin Gill commented: “The OSPAs provide an independent platform to showcase excellence and outstanding performance across the sector ensuring that those who contribute to maintaining high standards are recognised and rewarded. Each year the calibre of the nominations exceeds expectations and makes the job of selecting the winners particularly challenging for the judging panel.  All those that were selected as finalists and winners demonstrated that they really are the very best and should feel extremely proud.”
