Northumbria University’s student accommodation, Trinity Square, has won the ‘Newcastle Student Hall of the Year’ at the recent North East Student Housing Awards.

Student Living by Sodexo manages Trinity Square, which accommodates up to 1,050 students in stylish flats and studios, on behalf of Northumbria University and provides a range of services including reception, helpdesk, energy management, mechanical and electrical maintenance, cleaning and horticultural services.

Trinity Square is part of the Northumbria University’s 3,126 beds estate where Student Living by Sodexo has provided a range of FM services since 2014.

Student Living by Sodexo is working with Northumbria University to develop a residential life plan to support students in all aspects of their student experience. The plan will cover areas such as ensuring students have a smooth transition into university and that accommodation staff are trained in mental health and wellbeing.

Northumbria University is a research-rich, business-focused university with a global reputation for academic excellence. It is one of the largest universities in the UK with more than 33,000 students from 135 countries.

Commenting on the win, Damon Kent, Director of Campus Services at Northumbria University said, “I’m delighted that Trinity Square has received this accolade.  This is a fantastic achievement for our teams and testament to the success of the partnership between the University and Sodexo Student Living”.

Steve Hawkins, European Divisional Director of Student Living by Sodexo, Universities said, “Looking after over 1,000 young students, most of who are away from home for the first time is a huge responsibility.  The university campus team and our Sodexo employees have worked together to ensure a safe and friendly environment and this award acknowledges that partnership.”
