Half of British travellers feel ready to return to airport lounges when they reopen according to new research from Sodexo.
The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive for Sodexo, aimed to measure how comfortable passengers would feel returning to airports and the steps companies should take to achieve this.
4,000 people who had visited an airport lounge in the last 12 months across the United Kingdom, France, Spain and the United States took part.
The goal of the research was to understand how likely it is, and when, that travellers will return to airport lounges in future.
It found that of UK participants:
61% feel comfortable visiting airport lounges
50% intend to return to airport lounges within six months
63% feel an airport lounge helps them relax before a flight
Suzy Kitcher, CEO, Sodexo Global Airline Lounges, said: “We know that an airport lounge provides a precious moment to work, rest or enjoy the hospitality services while traveling. Whether it is for business or pleasure, the lounge provides a safe-haven from a busy airport environment to relax, unwind and prepare for the next stage of travellers’ journeys.
As we welcome guests back to our lounge spaces, the data proves that health and safety continues to be top of mind, and we will rely on our systematic and comprehensive reopening approach – Rise with Sodexo – to help our clients implement the properly enhanced protocols.
