The prestigious IWFM (Institute of Workplace and FM) Impact awards 2021 saw Sodexo win four accolades including one for its exciting new one-stop multi-functional Village which has been developed to improve the lived experience of service personnel.

Sodexo won the Workplace Experience (non-office/corporate environment) award for Village at Worthy Down Station in Hampshire.

Working closely with its military partners and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Sodexo used insight from the DIO and research that it commissioned with IPSOS Mori and Kings College London to create a one-stop catering, retail and leisure facility, designed to build community, create connections and foster morale among the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force personnel who live at Worthy Down.

Andy Honnor, DIO Regional Delivery Lead added:

We have worked incredibly hard with our Armed Forces customers and Industry Partner Sodexo to create a one-of-a-kind site that is ideal for the military personnel at Worthy Down.

We now have a superb facility that is repeatedly praised by industry experts and Defence. This is an excellent example of collaborative work and the expertise and support that DIO provides to the Armed Forces.

Village has a high street feel which has been designed specifically to meet the needs and expectations of the young student demographic of the Worthy Down military station. It was officially opened in July 2020 by Group Captain Nicholas Brittain.

Paul Anstey, CEO Government, Sodexo UK & Ireland said:

Winning this award demonstrates how working in partnership with the DIO and Worthy Down station has led to the creation of an innovative and future-led solution which addresses the most pressing needs of today’s forces personnel, the wider defence community and the Ministry of Defence.

We are proud and delighted to be recognised with this prestigious award.
