Starting Fresh: MP Toolkit

Sodexo has launched Starting Fresh, which is encouraging and providing guidance to businesses on proactively hiring people with criminal convictions.

Why do we need your support?

We are asking MPs to help share and promote information from the campaign supporting this programme, so that more local businesses can benefit from hiring people with criminal convictions, and that people in your constituency with criminal convictions in their past have the chance to continue their rehabilitation.

We want to reach as many businesses as possible, to ensure that they understand the potential value of hiring a person with a criminal conviction. As an MP, with your links to local communities, you are a crucial route to reaching businesses to promote the amazing opportunities that can come from hiring these individuals, with all the benefits that that brings.

 

Five simple steps to support the Starting Fresh campaign

  1. Write to businesses in your constituency, using the template letter provided, encouraging them to use Starting Fresh and New Futures Network resources to explore the potential to employ people with criminal convictions.
  2. Take a photo with the pledge poster provided and share it on social media. We have provided a suggested post. 
  3. Post on your website about the campaign, sharing the link to the resources. We have provided a template article alongside this document. 
  4. Display information about the campaign at your constituency office and surgeries, using the printable publicity material provided.
  5. Share with your constituency office and colleagues the guide provided, on what advice to provide businesses and people with criminal convictions who ask for your help.
