People with disabilities

At Sodexo we are passionate about ensuring we offer a workplace that is truly inclusive. Recruiting, engaging and developing employees with a disability is a key and vital component of that.

In the UK 16% of working age adults report having a disability and whilst 81.7% of people without disabilities are employed, up from 81.1% in the previous year, the figure for those with disabilities in employment is only 51.7%, up from 50.7%¹.

Recognising this “disability gap”, the Government has set a target for more than one million more disabled people to be in work by 2027.

Partnerships that make a difference

Our work often includes partnerships with clients, this can be seen in the video below about our recent work with people with disabilities including our partnership with Lighthouse Futures Trust and Johnson and Johnson. Find out more about how we also support people with disabilities in the healthcare sector.

A Disability Confident Leader

A Disability Confident LeaderIn June 2016, Sodexo reinforced its commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities by signing the ILO Global Business Disability Network Charter. Building on this, in June 2018, Sodexo UK achieved Leader status in the UK Government's Disability Confident scheme validating the work undertaken within the region.

We are delighted to achieve this accreditation. The award affirms the commitment we set out to recruit and retain people with disabilities and long-term conditions. This builds on a global commitment Sodexo made in 2015 to provide 100% of our workforce with access to programmes for people with disabilities by 2025.
