Reusable cup at Goodison Park

A greener Goodison Park

  • All plastic pint glasses served at Everton’s Goodison Park are now reusable. Sodexo, who manage catering and events at the Club, took up the challenge of working with the Club’s team to tackle the waste of 75,000 single-use plastic cups which were being thrown away across a single season.

A new scheme to reuse cups has been well received by the fans, who know that once they’ve finished their drinks, they can place the plastic glasses in designated recycling points around the ground. The glasses are then washed, ready to be used again and again - up to 100 times.

“The initiative is a key part of our environmental awareness campaign, ‘Everton for Change’,” explains Alix Craig, Stadium Development and Project Manager.

It has been great to see the Club and Sodexo team up to launch this scheme. Reusable cups will make a huge difference to the amount of single-use plastic used at Goodison Park and help us achieve our environmental goals.

Sodexo’s Jo Wetherill, Catering Services Director at Goodison Park says reducing waste is a key element in helping Everton reduce the club’s carbon footprint. “These reusable cups make a huge difference to the amount of plastic used at Goodison Park, and make our work even greener”, she said.
